Mercury Bay Art Escape Artists Open Studios 2017.
2017 marks the 10th anniversary of our Open Studios. Held on the first two weekends of March annually this is an excellent opportunity to see the diverse range of approx 40 artists and 2 art groups from around the Eastern Coromandel Peninsula from Kuaotunu in the north to Tairua in the south. Take time to meet the artist in their studio setting, understand the inspiration behind their work, and purchase directly from the artistic source! The artists enjoy chatting to visitors and sharing their passion and pleasure in their work.
The wide variety of mediums include jewellery, painting, sculpture, wood, carving, photography, prints, mosaics and pottery so there is something for everyone's taste. If you can’t make it in March, all Art Escape members are open year-round by appointment.
Our new Free Art Guide 2017 is available at art outlets and i-sites on the peninsula. It lists our members, their style of work, easy to read maps and features local accommodation, hospitality and tourist options.
The Gala Opening of the Showcase Exhibition and Celebration of our 10th Anniversary of Artists Open Studios will be held on Friday 3 March 2017 at 7.30pm at Hot Waves Cafe, Hot Water Beach. The Showcase exhibition features one work from each member and this year to celebrate our 10th anniversary we have set them a challenge to interpret the theme 'Growth'. Work will also be on show from our two 2016 Scholarship recipients. Join us for bubbles, nibbles, meet the artists and get a feel for the work on show and take an early opportunity to purchase their works.Tickets will be available soon on our brand new website. www.mercurybayartescape.com
