The Bads - is a vehicle for the musical escapades of Brett Adams and Dianne Swann. Created under the fiery skies of Waitakere, Aotearoa - New Zealand.
Since their return to live in New Zealand the duo has released 3 albums as The Bads, (2005’s Earth from Space, and 2009’s So Alive, and 2013’s Travel Light - which reached #3 on The NZ Music Album Charts) The song and the album So Alive were nominated for the Best Country song and album in 2010.
The Bads have toured the country extensively, opened WOMAD 2014 as “Tim Finn and The Bads”, and invited Australian legendary songwriter, Don Walker to New Zealand to collaborate on a series of shows. They have opened for Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Tim Finn, Joan Armatrading, The Swell Season, The Jayhawks and Rodrgio Y Gabriela. At the end of 2014 the band were invited to Melbourne to play support for Rodriguez.
In celebration of their first album in four years, The Bads, of course, must do what they love most; play some shows!
The Bads’ touring band holds a mighty punch of talent and experience featuring core members; Dianne Swann (Tim Finn, Dave McArtney, Flip Grater & more) and Brett Adams (Tim Finn, Tami Neilson, Rodriguez, Mockers, Gin Wigmore, Jan Hellriegel, Exponents).
Also on the tour bus will be frequent live collaborators; Wayne Bell on drums, who has played with a huge list of people including Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga, Greg Johnson, Gin Wigmore, Jan Hellriegel.
Accompanying them will be the inimitable Dave Khan, a multi-instrumentalist who has played with Don McGlashan, Marlon WIlliams, and Tami Neilson amongst many others.
New to The Bads’ touring troupe is Ben King on bass and golden vocals from bands; Grand Rapids, Narentines and Goldenhorse.
