BREAKING THE CODE by HUGH WHITEMORE

This Tony award nominated play presents a number of scenes in the life of Alan Turing, the mathematical genius who was instrumental in deriving a solution to the German Enigma code and subsequently developed some of the first computers. Turing was the subject of the 2014 movie, The Imitation Game.

Based on the biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges, this play examines the links between Turing’s mathematical insights and code-breaking activities during World War II and his attempts to deal with his homosexuality in a less tolerant age.

Presented in a non-linear fashion, the play features a series of vignettes of Turing’s relationships and interactions with key people in his life.

The cast includes a mix of new and experienced actors from the Cambridge and Hamilton areas and the production is directed by Dave Stearns.

The intimate Gaslight Theatre in Cambridge seats 55 patrons and there are 11 shows over the 2-week season with a mix of matinee, show only and dinner & show performances.
