6th - 29th October 2017

Rural Waikato has seeped into my being, it is part of who I am.

My aim is to convey an essence of the Waikato in my work.

GREEN , the dominant landscape colour,

WHITE for the bright pacific light,

BLACK for the dark shadows, especially in New Zealand’s dense bush. A fern about to unfold.

All have had an indelible affect upon me.

Wire is used to divide, to separate.

No. 8 wire has a legendary status. It’s reputed that New Zealanders can do anything with it!

I first worked with No. 8 wire when I entered into the inaugural No. 8 competition, gaining runner up to Paul Judd. As a result I was presented with 4 bundles of straight 2 meter length No. 8 wire from the makers.

So the journey began to explore what I could create with this bounty.

These paintings are my most recent effort to extend myself to create something new in my painting vocabulary.
