Exciting Dance Workshops for Young Dancers
We caught up with Arohanui Watene and found out a bit more about her exciting dance career and her upcoming workshops in Hamilton, Jan15th-17th. Read on.
Soon to start my second year at the NZ School of dance my journey so far has been amazing. Only a few NZ dancers get the opportunity to work with such calibre and for that, I feel blessed. Dancing in the 'World of Wearable Arts' was one of my highlights of the year with next years calendar bursting with loads of choreographic and performance opportunities.
This January I am holding a workshop for young learners, and for experienced dancers in my hometown 'Waikato'. Although a studio dance education does wonders for technique and confidence, what I felt prepared me for the NZ School of Dance was the experiences I had outside of the classroom. Workshops such as mine; with Black Grace, the NZ Dance Company, Unitec and travelling to the USA to train, opened my eyes to a whole new level of creativity within dance.
I am 18 years of age, I am passionate about dance and I am excited to give back to my community. Feel free to look me up on FB: Mana Wairua Contemporary Dance Company, Arohanui.
If you are a budding dancer or experienced. This is the workshop for you. Arohanui is in her second year at the NZ School of dance, only one of 5 kiwi's this year to be accepted. She is holding an Insight dance workshop in January. Click on the link to register, and the poster to view the details. A great holiday activity for children.
