Negin Dastgheib, Candy Leaves

With all of this gusty wind and rain our next exhibition brings us a reminder that spring is near. Born in New Zealand but with a strong connection to her Iranian heritage, Negin Datsgheib uses her painting practice to explore ideas of space, place, location and belonging.

With an insatiable passion for the environment, Dastgheib’s exhibition, Soften, depicts a multitude of flora that Dastgheib has experienced, photographed, drawn and painted. Influenced by the likes of Luc Tuymans (Belgian) and Milton Avery (American), Dastgheib beautifully captures and depicts our natural environment with a focus on form and colour relationships.

Based in Christchurch, Dastgheib holds a BFA from Massey University and has exhibited throughout New Zealand and the United States.
