My World, My Vision, peek inside a child's creative mind 16 December, 2016
Ashok Kochhar, is an internationally renowned photographer from India and is based in Hamilton whilst on his 500-day journey project.
During his stay, Ashok has set out to capture the Waikato and New Zealand, and has shared his knowledge and love of photography through a series of free workshops he's hosted at Creative Waikato. He plans to publish a photography book of his work here in the next few months.
Wrapping up a busy year in the Waikato, Ashok presented a unique exhibition at Creative Waikato entitled 'My World’.
‘My World’ is an initiative where 40 disposable cameras were given to children from all walks of life between the ages of 7-12. As Ashok explains, this exhibition “gives you a peek in the young minds of tomorrow and how beautiful their world is”.
The photographs the children took give you "a peek in the young minds of tomorrow and how beautiful their world is," photographer Ashok Kochhar says.
The exhibition showcased at Creative Waikato where all the photos selected by Ashok from each camera will be on display from December 1st – 13th.
The photographs will be gifted back to the participants after the exhibition finishes.
Ashok hopes to continue the initiative in 2017, taking it nationwide.
