Tears For Our Fallen

'Tears For Our Fallen’ is a commemorative art installation created by Hamilton artist Elywn Stone The poignant installation involves 100 teardrops, embellished with a poppy for remembrance, cascading from a generic wooden cross cradled in barbed wire, symbolic of pain and loss. The piece has toured New Zealand and is now installed at The Lido Cinema in Hamilton until the end of April.

Artist profile - Elwyn Stone
Hamilton-based artist - Elwyn has enjoyed creative interests all her life: Taranaki born and then resident, art pursuits remained latent during the years of raising a family, working and pursuing other creative talents, including theatre. Artistic development blossomed when Elwyn seized a personal challenge to complete an Arts Degree.

Initially commencing with a year of study in Fine Arts at WITT 2002.
further study paused until 2007 when choosing to reside in Hamilton
and complete her degree. Enrolling as a mature fulltime student at
Wintec whilst employed with Waikato Museum.

Graduating 2010 with Bachelor of Media Arts: Maj Painting.
With interests in the broader visual arts fields, Elwyn works in a variety
of media, mediums, styles, techniques and subjects. Creating in conceptual,
contemporary, realism, print, photography, sculpture, and installation; continually developing her passion.
Elwyn exhibits regularly -Nationally and locally. Currently tutoring workshops and classes.
A number of her artworks are held in public and private collections.
