Last call to enrol

It’s important to have your say in who shapes the future of Aotearoa, and make sure that your representatives really stand for the things that you care about the most, in the beehive and beyond.
This year, things look a bit different…
You can do this right now, online below:
In 2023, 450,000 people signed up in the last 12 days before the election. According to the Ministry of Justice, ‘in 2023, 33 per cent of 18 to 19-year-old
voters enrolled or updated their details during the voting period, as did 48 per cent of Māori voters aged 18 to 19.’ This year, that later window to enrol will not be open.
It’s super important to reach out to the rangatahi in your life and help them to enrol or update their voting details. There’s a really cool nation-wide campaign for young people, by young people. You could send it on to the rangatahi in your life: https://onaroll.nz/
Another change that has come through is that there is no longer allowed to be ‘free food, drink or entertainment within 100m of the entrance of a voting place while voting is taking place’.
So, we all could have a think about how to bring the good vibes. If you have a vehicle, then you could offer to give someone a lift (it can make a big difference). You could gather up some friends and family and combine it with other fun things to do.
Fingers crossed for good weather by November, you could host a pre or post-voting potluck at a local park, and ask everyone to bring a plus one along. And whatever you choose, kai is always a good idea!
Ultimately, voting is something we can celebrate, do in community, and make into a good memory. It’s a powerful opportunity to help create the future that you want to see.
