Announcement! ArtReach is live and rolling

ArtReach is a suite of workshops designed to help Waikato artists, community groups, organisations, trusts, boards and collectives to enhance the great work they do.

They are an offering from Creative Waikato to you, informed by the questions, insights and opportunities that you have shared with us over more than a decade.

Designed to support your work to be efficient, effective and sustainable– they are fully funded, and so completely free for you to use.

These workshops are presented in an e-learning video format so this can be done at a time that works best for you and your group, and to ensure that this information is as accessible as possible, available 24/7!

The topics covered in the ArtReach suite are:
  • Governance and board leadership: what it is, best practice, things to consider, and the understanding of strategic work vs operational work
  • Waikato Arts Navigator: an introduction to the regional arts, culture and creativity strategy and how it connects to your mahi
  • Creative Wellbeing: what it is, how to understand it, how it connects with your strategic intention and impact
  • Strategic Planning: what it is, how to do it, what to consider, and understanding your vision and purpose
  • Evaluation, Impact and Insights: how can you articulate what you do,how your strategic plan and purpose can inform what you do, and how you utilise research to support strategy and storytelling
  • Funding: how to fund your activities and important things to think about
  • Audience Development: how to build your community and understand that audiences are more than just bums on seats
  • Climate Change and Sustainability: how to understand our impacts in this space, and some of the things we can do to contribute to change
  • Health and Safety: how to keep yourselves and your communities safe, and points towards important bits of information for future activity and planning
  • Promotion and Storytelling: how to tell your story, the things to think about, and how you might build good habits
  • Project Planning: the practical approaches to getting something from concept to reality

You can choose how to best work through each workshop, and consider the time you have available to work through the activities and exercises.
You might book a time with your group to gather around kai and tackle a workshop in one go, or you might check out one chapter at a time, at the start or end of a meeting. Gather up some biscuits and tea, and press play!

Along with each video workshop, there is a supporting PDF toolkit (and downloadable templates and resources where relevant), to give you all the tools and information you need to make the most of this training.

They are all ready and waiting for you,

ArtReach was originally funded by Creative New Zealand in 2016 (formerly known as ARTillery) as a pilot, and Creative Waikato delivered these in-person throughout the Waikato region.

In 2022, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage funded the next phase of ArtReach, allowing Creative Waikato to update existing workshops and add new ones. This has enabled the digitisation of the entire ArtReach series, helping us to make them more accessible than ever, across our mighty Waikato region.

The creative Waikato team is, as always, available to connect with you and cover any remaining questions, or brainstorm next steps.
