Dr. Aimee Anderson-O'Connor

Strategy, Research, Creative Development

Aimee is pinching herself every day, as she embarks on her time with Creative Waikato as a member of the Creative Development Team.

She is an enthusiastic and passionate supporter. She is a big believer-inner. In the power of each person’s unique voice. In the power of creativity to connect and empower us. In the limitless potential of collaboration. In the ability of creativity to shake-up and change our world for the better. In the electric currents of brilliance and talent that light up the Waikato.

Aimee studied history, english and writing studies at the University of Waikato, and has recently earned a PhD about contemporary Aotearoa New Zealand poetry. She has a background in research, writing and editing work, teaching creative and critical writing and tertiary arts, and working with youth. She is a published creative and academic writer and has volunteered for local literary journal Mayhem. Her creative practice is mostly with words, though she enjoys dabbling in collage and music, and is learning the harmonica with trial and joyful error.

When she’s not at Creative Waikato, she’s hiking or at the beach, watching a documentary, reading, or scrawling in her journal.

Aimee is looking forward to walking alongside you, and supporting your creative work.
