Des Ratima

Research, Strategy and Regional Development

Meet Des who works in all things strategy, research and regional development.

She enjoys planning, devising and dreaming about opportunities for communities to get engaged in the arts as well as getting to the core of what makes communities tick. She has a heart for communities empowering themselves.

A specific focus for Des has been the Waikato Arts Navigator, a vision and strategy for supporting and strengthening arts and culture in the Waikato region.

Having started her career in law, consulting and local government, Des has relished the opportunity to come back to her first love–the arts–finding a home at Creative Waikato.

Des loves ‘big picture’ stuff, but also enjoys getting to the nitty gritty of issues. She is passionate about the ability of the arts to enhance wellbeing.

A proud Tokoroa girl and Mum of three who resides in the Tron, Des also enjoys working in the textile space, particularly, embroidery work, and supporting her children in their creative endeavours.

If you or your community want to know more about the Waikato Arts Navigator or other strategic areas, drop Des a line.
